On Friday 7th July my colleagues and I completed a 26 mile marathon walk from Birmingham to Wolverhampton and back again across our local canal network thru the heart of the Black Country and its proud manufacturing base. So far from this walk we have raised £3902 for our chosen charity which is Mental Health UK. Please see the Just Giving page and links below and please feel free to donate if you wish to support what we consider is a very worthy cause and one for which we were happy to be blistered, bruised and generally worn out in order to support this worthy cause.

We have also put together a little video to share our exploits.

Mental Health UK is a network of four national charities who have come together to tackle mental illness across the UK; Rethink Mental Illness in England, Hafal in Wales, MindWise in Northern Ireland and Support in Mind Scotland. Our fundraising will go to Mental Health UK.

Mental illness affects more people every year than cancer or heart disease. One in four of us in the UK will be affected by a mental health problem in any given year, and of these around four million will also struggle will their financial wellbeing.

Through early interventions and support, the impact of poor mental health can be reduced.

KEY  FACTS

Mental Health UK run over 400 services and have 200 volunteer support groups in communities around the UK.

Over 90,000 people rely on the organisations every year to help them get through crises, live independently and realise they are not alone.

Last year their health information was accessed over 3.6 million times online.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Mental Health UK, with colleagues across the Group volunteering and aiming to raise at least £2 million per year.

Together, we will establish the UK’s first combined Mental Health and Money Advice Service. It will offer practical, personal guidance and information for any member of the public who is worried about their finances as a result of mental illness, or vice versa.

£10 could allow an advice worker to answer a call from someone in desperate need of advice and support with their mental health and money problems.

£19 could help us provide one hour of time for someone to provide tailored advice and information by email, providing vital tools to support people and help them take their first steps to managing their mental health and money.

£20 could help us establish and maintain a unique new online information, so people can get advice on mental health and money 24 hours a da

£100 could help train an advice worker to provide one-to-one support.

£500 could help fund 3 advice workers for a day, providing people with the tools to support them and take their first steps to managing their mental health and money.

£1,500 could fund an advice worker for 2 weeks, helping us to answer calls and online queries from people, often in desperate need of support, helping them to find a way forward.

Mental Health is receiving more and more much deserved profile and we feel that this is a cause we can all make a difference to and where this may well touch many of us or our family, friends and colleagues.

Kind Regards

Mark
